NZ's First N90 on 35s!
Oliver reached out to us late April this year to let us know his brand new Hilux was a week away from delivery. He wanted this to be the first new Hilux sitting on a big lift and some 35" tyres. At the time, these new trucks were severely backlogged at every Toyota dealership and there were not many 4x4 accessories available in the NZ market. It was now up to us to find something that'll do the job, as quickly as possible. We reached out to our friend Paul from Titan Drive to see how far away Ironclad Suspension was from having a set of their IXR shocks, conveniently they were in the very early days of design and were organising a development vehicle. We had the perfect opportunity to use Oliver's truck to speed up the process.
Long story short, Oliver drove up from Timaru so we could tear apart his suspension and get some 3D scanning done. Thanks to Andrei from ACFab for getting these scans sorted and within a week or two the new suspension design had gone into production. The next obstacle was the body lift, there were no body lifts available for these Hilux's anywhere in the world. Luckily, within the next couple of months VMN had advertised these kits for sale, so we snapped 5 of them up before they were gone. Oliver chose some Venom Power Swampthing M/T tyres wrapped around Dirtylife DT3 alloys in satin black. This is all, for part 1 of the build. Next up is a bull bar, 5" stainless snorkel and few more goodies before certification.
